The severe cyclonic storm "Asani" over west central Bay and adjoining area moved northwestwards and now lies over the same area, said a Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) bulletin valid for 24 hours commencing 9 am today (Monday), BSS reports.
"It is likely to move in a northwesterly direction and weaken into a Cyclonic Storm during the next 12 hours. Maritime ports of Bangladesh have been advised to keep hoisted Distant Warning Signal No. Two," said the bulletin.
"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rangpur division with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions," it added.
However, the day temperature may fall slightly and the night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
Country's maximum temperature on Monday was recorded at 36.1 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi and the minimum temperature today (Monday) was 20.5 degrees Celsius at Sylhet.
The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6 am today (Monday) was recorded at 207 mm at Khepupara in Barishal.
