The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) received a total of 113,773 calls on its Hotline-106 in the last two years (2020 and 2021) and documented 2,449 calls as valid allegations for further scrutiny.
Besides, the commission received 213 graft allegations in its Complaint Cell -- 36 via e-mail and social media, and 232 from electronic and print media, ACC secretary Md Mahbub Hossain said on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the commission conducted a total of 732 anti-graft drives -- 487 in 2020 and 245 in 2021.
The watchdog filed just four trap cases during the period under review, two in each year.
In a briefing at the ACC headquarters, the ACC secretary said the commission will intensify its inquiry, investigation, anti-graft drives and arrests in the coming days.
The commission has established its own detective unit to broaden its inquiry and investigation activities, he added.
Besides, the ACC has already increased its surveillance on the services sector as there has been notable increase in complaints related to the sector.
