Anti-Corruption Commission summons 18 Titas, Petrobangla officials

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday summoned at least 18 officials and employees of Petrobangla and Titas Gas Company to grill them about graft allegations brought against them.

The commission has been investigating the allegations of irregularities, graft and illegal wealth accumulation etc against some officials of Petrobangla and Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited.

As part of the investigation, separate summons were issued on the accused, asking them to appear before the ACC headquarters in- between September 05 and September 09, ACC public relations officer Arif Sadeq confirmed.

He also said that the anti-graft authority already grilled 10 current and former officials of these organisations and now summoned 18 others.

Senior supervisor of Titas Harun-or-Rashid, senior sales assistant Foyez Ahmed, Titas Gas collective bargaining agency (CBA) general secretary Faruk Ahmed, its vice-president Jakir Hossain, and assistant officer of Titas (Savar) Delwar Morshed were summoned to appear before the commission headquarters on September 05 while Titas deputy managers (Savar zone) Anisuzzaman and Md Abdul Mannan, manager (parcel division) Hasibuzzaman, general manager (corporate division) Mahmudur Rab, and manager (corrosion control division) Abu Bakar Siddiqur Rahman on September 06.

Petrobangla director (planning) Aiyub Khan Chowdhury, computer operator of Titas Zone-9 Mizanur Rahman were summoned on September 07 while former director (governing body) of Titas Khan Mainul Mostaq and some other employees including Maharram Ali, Md Jakir Hossain, Md Abu Sayeed, Md Mafiz, and Md Manik Miah were asked to present their defence against the allegations.
