ACC chief stresses social organisations’ unity to stop corruption

The chairman of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has emphasised that unity of social organisation is the essence to stop corruption in the country.

Iqbal Mahmood on Monday said, "Social organisations of the country must be united and fight against unfair practices to make the country corruption-free."

The ACC chief made the remarks while speaking at the inaugural session of the "Sonak-Shojon, Yes-Yes Friends, Wipack National Conference 2018," organised by Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city's Agargaon area.

"People can't do anything alone. When we are united, we can reach our desired goals," he said, adding "Every citizen has responsibility to establish a corruption-free society and uphold moral values in the society.......Many leaders who indulged in corruption had to face trial in the past," he noted.

The citizens should speak up against unfair practices and corruption to build a society in line with the core values of humanity, he added.

BSS said Executive Director of TIB Dr Iftekharuzzaman moderated the programme.

Tania Sadik, Entrepreneur and Managing Partner of private organisation 'Karigar', and Ayman Sadiq, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of 10 Minute School, also spoke.

Over 2500 members of the Youth Engagement Support (YES) - YES Friends, Sacheton Nagarik Somaj (SoNaK)-Shojon (Citizens for Transparency), Wipack, YES Friends and TIB officials from all over the country joined the daylong conference.
