A total of 81 state-owned mills and factories in the country were privatised after the formation of the Privatisation Commission.
Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, who is in-charge of the Prime Minister Office in Parliament, made the disclosure in Parliament on Sunday replying to a question from treasury bench lawmaker AFM Bahauddin Nasim, reports UNB.
Among the privatised mills and factories, the highest 30 were under the Textile and Jute Ministry, 19 under the Ministries of Industries, five under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, four under the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, the minister informed.
Besides, 20 other state-owned entities under the Ministry of Industries and three entities under the Ministry of Finance were given to the private sector through handing over government shares, she said.
