The 55th death anniversary of Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy will be observed in the country on Wednesday.
Different political and socio-cultural have taken up elaborate programmes on the occasion, reports UNB.
The programmes include placing of wreaths at the grave of the great leader, discussions, Qurankhwani, milad and doa mahfil.
Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh have issued separate messages on the occasion.
In his message, the President said Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy struggled for establishing rule of law and democracy throughout his life.
"The nation remembers with respect his contributions in flourishing democracy and improving the socio-economic condition of the people of this region," he said.
The President expressed his belief that the life and works of Suhrawardy will encourage the future generation to devote themselves in people's welfare.
In her message, the Prime Minister said Suhrawardy worked throughout his life for establishing democratic rights of people and flourishing non-communal politics.
