A 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck the capital and other parts of the country on Wednesday.
The epicentre of the quake to Saptagram, West Bengal, India, 293 kilometres away from BMD Seismic Centre at Agargaon, Dhaka, said Mominul Islam, a meteorologist of Dhaka met office.
The tremor was felt at 10:52 am, he added.
However, there was no immediate report of any damage or casualty, according to a UNB report.
According to the scale of seismologists, an earthquake ranging from 5 to 5.9 is considered a moderate earthquake which can cause slight damage to buildings.
