A moderate earthquake measuring 5.1 magnitudes on the Richter Scale hit most of the places of the country including the capital Dhaka this morning as no damage was reported immediately.
"The epicentre of the tremor was located at the South-West side of the Bay of Bengal, 520 kilometres north of Dhaka," Nizam Uddin, a meteorologist at Dhaka met office said, reports BSS.
He said the earthquake struck at the depth of 10 kilometres and occurred around 9:02 am which lasted for a few seconds.
No damage was reported by now due to the tremor, he added.
According to seismologists, an earthquake ranging from 5 to 5.9 scale is considered moderate.
