Some 40 voluntary female organisations of the district got financial grant of Tk 0.80m from Bangladesh Mohila Kalyan Parishad.
A function organised by the district office of department of women affairs was held at the conference room of district collectorate building here in the afternoon.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gautam Chandra Pal addressed the function as the chief guest.
District women affairs officer Shahanaz Akhter and chairperson of Proash Mohila Sangstha Parul Begum addressed the function, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Gautam Chandra Pal said the government is encouraging different female voluntary organisations through providing them with financial support so that they can contribute more to the society, according to BSS report.
The DC also urged the chiefs of the organisations to utilize the grant for the purpose of income-generating activities aimed at the changing the socio-economic condition of the poor communities to build a poverty and hunger free society.
