Authorities of the two Dhaka city corporations are going to set up a total of 17 makeshift cattle markets in the capital on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, official sources said.
Of the total temporary haats, 10 will be set up by the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) seven by the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) in the areas of their respective jurisdictions.
The corporations have invited tenders for allowing the competent bidders to set up haats at the designated places.
The places where the haats will be set up in the DSCC areas are: North Sahajahanpur Khilgaon Maitri Sangha Playground (near the level crossing), Institute of Leather Technology Playground at Hazaribagh, Postogola (open place near cremation ground), open place near Meradia Bazar, open place near Kamalapur stadium and Little Friends Club, open place near Dania College, open place near Dolaikhal, open place near Amulia Model Town, open place near Rahmatganj Club, and unused open place near Shyampur-Kadamtali Truck Stand.
Apart from those temporary cattle markets, the permanent haat of DSCC at Sarulia will also be selling sacrificial animals for Eid this year.
The DNCC- designated areas for the haats are: Bhatara Sayednagar, open place at Kaola Sialdanga, open place near Eastern Housing under Mirpur section No. 6, open place near Basila Mohammadpur, open place from Bindaban to BGMEA at sector No 17, Uttara, open place near Eastern Housing from Block E - Block H at Badda and open place near Kuril 300 Feet Road.
Besides, the DNCC's Gabtali cattle market (permanent) will also be selling sacrificial animals on the occasion of Eid.
Meanwhile, the DNCC authorities have started taking preparations for selling sacrificial animals online, through dncc.digitalhat.net.
The DSCC and DNCC authorities will give work orders soon to the qualified bidders after completing the tender process, saidsources at the corporations.
