Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A K M Nurul Huda on Monday said that the process for holding the 11th parliamentary election will start in October this year.

"All the political parties will participate in the upcoming national polls," hoped the CEC while responding to the reporters at the circuit house in Satkhira district around 11:00am.

He said that the election may be held in December this year or January in 2019, says a UNB report.

Mentioning that there is no scope of using EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) in the coming national election, the CEC said that following some administrative complexities and river erosion, the demarcation work in several constituencies is underway. However, it will not affect the election, he said.

While replying to a question on BNP's proposal about "a supporting government" to uphold the next general election, he said it is a political matter and the government will take decision over the issue.

Later, the CEC visited the district election office.
