The pandemic had a huge negative impact on university club activities last year. Shutdown forced all sorts of events to go online and restrict in many forms. Despite the barriers, a group of enthusiastic students from BUP Cultural Forum (BUPCF), one of the oldest clubs of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) has taken the initiative to welcome spring and successfully organised their event online.
Associate Professor Josinta Zinia, moderator of BUPCF commented, "In such tough circumstances, BUPCF astounded me by organising their flagship event 'Boshonto Boron 1427.' They brought back the colourful essence and life through their performance and spread it all."
The event Boshonto Boron 1427 was held on February 14, the first day of spring, through their Facebook page. The main event spanned for almost two hours with various cultural performances which included many promising artists.
Sayed Osman Goni Rafat, president of BUPCF said, "Spring brings out life and colour after ruthless winter, not only in nature but also in our lives." Mentioning the pandemic related uncertainties, he termed the event a huge success.
"It is tricky to be the host of an event where you do not see the reaction of the live audience. However, we had a good number of audience and participants for the event and also the audience engaged brilliantly through the comment section through our live Cultural Premier Show," remarked one of the event hosts Mahbubur Rashid Ories.
Expressing her excitement, TahasinTasnim Mohce, an artist said, "Boshonto this year was not like before. Though this was a new experience for us, I am glad that at least we all got the full vibe of spring through online."
Other than traditional singing and dancing, poem recitation and an interesting scrapbook session were also held. Moonmoon Maria Sangma, a scrapbook artist said, "Scrapbooks can create emotions within you, you just have to look for it."
BUPCF believes in promoting new businesses and enterprises. For that purpose, BUPCF had Craftnite, She's Fashionotes,Nazia'S Classic Closet, Ennor Shop, Subscription Hub, BritterBindu, Ry & Rin's and Rotaract club of Rajdhani Sonargaon as their startup partners for this colourful event. Drama script writing, story writing and digital art competition were also part of the event. Joy Saha, Jannatul Ferdous and Ayesha Noor were the champions in these segments respectively. The programme is still available on their Facebook page for the audience.
