Youth assembly to develop leadership

National Youth Assembly 2019 was held at Hotel Sea Palace, Cox's Bazar from  March 09 to 12. It was one of the annual signature events of JAAGO Foundation, and took place for the third  consecutive year. The assembly is JAAGO Foundation's endeavour initiated under its Youth Development Programme named 'Volunteer for Bangladesh' (VBD). 

This was a four-day long residential programme, aimed to empower the youth and encourage them towards volunteerism and bringing them into community building activity chasing the Sustainable Development Goals by United Nations (SDGs). In this programme, youth participants from all over the country got together with representatives of leading orgnisations. Youth volunteers from VBD shared their ideas, perspectives, plans and the work they had done over the past year in community building. On the other hand, guests shared their experiences, ideas, expectations towards the youth who are the future leaders of the country. These volunteers, after getting back to their respective districts, are expected to work on community building activities, chasing the SDG goals in the coming days.

The notable speakers of the final day were Md Mozibor Rahman, deputy secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports; Akter Uddin, national programme analyst, Country Focal Point of UNV Bangladesh, UNDP; Abdul Quayyum, communication head, UNDP and Rubana Haque, managing director of Mohammadi Group.

This year, there were 500 participants who joined from all eight divisions of Bangladesh. Korvi Rakshand, executive director, JAAGO Foundation inaugurated the opening ceremony on March 09. During the four day-long assembly, leaders and delegates participated and shared their views on different topics featuring leadership, road safety, financial literacy, empowering youths, entrepreneurship, access to information, effective communication human resource and success stories.

Representatives of International Finance Corporation, Uber Bangladesh, WaterAid, Coca-Cola Bangladesh Limited, Green Delta Insurance Limited, Suzuki Bangladesh Limited, IDLC Finance Limited, Young Bangla, BRTA, Ministry of Youth and Sports and some other organisations participated this year, says a press release.
