The cultural club of the World University of Bangladesh has arranged a two-day festival to celebrate the Chaitra Sankranti at its campus in the capital city.
Ramendu Majumdar, renowned actor, stage director and also a theatre producer, inaugurated the ‘Chaitra Sankranti and Welcome Festival’ of the Bangla year 1425 on Monday.
Prof Dr Abdul Mannan Choudhury, vice chancellor of the university, presided over the function while Prof Dr Musfiq M Choudhury, chief advisor of the WUB, gave welcome speech at the event.
Pro-Vice Chancellor of the university Prof Dr M Nurul Islam, and Treasurer of the WUB Morsheda Choudhury were also present as special guests, said a media release.
Students have opened stalls with various traditional Chaitra and Boishaki foods and artistic materials at the festival, which will continue from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm on Monday and Tuesday.
