The University of Development Alternative (UODA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shanxi University, PR, China to collaborate over a wide range of academic and research activities and initiatives.
The MoU, signed on Monday, focuses on collaborative research activities in the domain of their mutual interests, said a press release on Tuesday.
Dr Liu Hua of Shanxi University and Professor Dr Mohammed Rahmatullah, Dean of Life Sciences Faculty of University of Development Alternative, signed the deal on behalf of their respective organisation at UODA’s campus at Dhanmondi in the city.
The partnership will also support aspiring students, teachers, researchers and faculty from both institutions in exchange program.
The agreement specially highlighted collaboration in areas of research in life science like cancer epidemiology, tuberculosis, improvements in cancer therapy and in way other areas that the two university think fit.
Addressing the signing ceremony, Professor Rahmatullah, said, “We are extremely happy to engage in a key market such as China.”
“The MoU we signed today is the beginning of what we believe to be a long relationship in which we will learn with and from each other through cooperative academic pursuits. We expect that the MoU will usher in a new era in research collaboration between PR China and Bangladesh and ultimately benefit the people of both countries.”
At the function, Founder and President of UODA Professor Mujib Khan received the delegation of Shanxi University with a souvenir on behalf of the university.
Registrar of university Professor Dr Iffat Chowdhury and Lecturer of Communication and Media Studies Department Md Mahadi Hasan were present at the ceremony.
The communication between the universities was coordinated by Malisha Edu, a student consultancy firm based in china and Dhaka.
