University of Manitoba Bangladeshi Students' Association (UMBSA), Canada celebrated 51st Independence Day with enthusiasm and reverence.
The association celebrated Bangladesh Independence Day with weeklong programmes, according to a press statement.
President Kazi Ishayat Kayesh, Vice President Internal Aannaffee Yash and Vice President External Abraar Fahim visited Provincial Legislative Assembly of Manitoba along with representatives of the Bangladeshi community on March 22.
Andrew Smith, minister of Sports, Heritage & Culture and Jon Reyes, minister of Advanced Education, Skills & Immigration and their chiefs of staff greeted them at the House.
UMBSA collected food and clothes and donated to Winnipeg Harvest and Salvation Army- two nonprofit organisations to cater to those people who are most in need of assistance on March 26.
Executives and members of UMBSA also donated blood at Canadian Blood Services on the day.
On the same day, UMBSA leaders met Diljeet Brar, member of Legislative Assembly of Manitoba. Dr Durdana Islam, chairperson- Status of Women, Gender Equity and Diverse Committee- Manitoba’s NDP, and other organisations, who are partners in growth with UMBSA, were present at the meet.
On 27th March, UMBSA celebrated Independence Day in colours, festivities, foods and delight!
Ministers, federal MPs, councilors and dignitaries from the public and private sectors graced the event.
