The University Grants Commission (UGC) has formed a three-member committee to probe allegations of irregularities in the sale of admission test forms of Jahangirnagar University (JU), and embezzlement of money by the teachers, officials and employees.
The committee was formed by an office order on January 9, the UGC said.
According to the office order, in the light of the letter received from the Anti-Corruption Commission, an investigation committee has been formed to probe the allegations of irregularities and embezzlement of money from the sale of first year undergraduate admission test forms of 2019-20 session against the concerned teachers and officials and employees of the university.
Dr Md Abu Taher, member of UGC, has been appointed as the convener of the committee. UGC Deputy Director of Finance and Accounts Mostafizur Rahman has been made member of the committee and Senior Assistant Director of the Department of Public University Management, UGC, Golam Dastagir has been included as member secretary.
In addition, Labiba Mohsin, assistant director, Department of Public University Management, UGC, will provide secretarial assistance to the committee.
Meanwhile, the Jahangirnagar University Teachers' Association has termed the word 'embezzlement' unreasonable, undesirable and highly disrespectful.
