East West University Investment & Finance Club has successfully arranged 'THE PITCHERS' on September 3 2022, Saturday. The competition was inaugurated on July 30, 2022, and concluded with the participation of about 126 teams from 22 different universities all over Bangladesh.
This event was segmented into two parts, three workshops and three battle rounds. First, training sessions were conducted through some of the top-notch Startup industry leaders of Bangladesh. Workshops 1 and 2 were held online. After that, in round 1, the teams submitted their unique startup ideas to get evaluated by the investors.
From that, 24 teams were selected to perform in Round 2. Here the participants had to submit the 'Video Pitch & Financial Structure' of their startup ideas. Among 24 teams, only nine teams were selected for the final round. Finally, workshop three was held at EWU premises, and the trainer groomed the finalist teams for the Final Round. The final round was held on August 30 2022, and the teams presented their Final Pitch in front of the judges.
Team Peora (East West University) became the champion, Team Quintessential (Bangladesh University of Professionals), and Team Curly Fries (Bangladesh University of Professionals) secured first and second runner-up spots, respectively.
A total of Tk 60,000 was handed over among the winning teams. In addition, the champion team received Tk 25000, the first runner-up received 20000, and the second-runner-up received Tk 15000. Trophies, certificates, food vouchers, and other gift hampers were also there for the winning teams.
Sami Ahmed, CEO, Startup Bangladesh Limited, Professor A. K. Enamul Haque, Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics, East West University, Dr. Tanbir Ahmed Chowdhury, Professor, Department of Business Administration, East West University, and Masba Ahmed, Founder & CEO, Masba Elite Business Club, graced the event as chief guest, program chair, and special guests, respectively.
Nirjhor Rahman, CEO, Bangladesh Angels Network, Sourav Islam, Founder and CEO, Farmers Market Asia, Saqib Syed, Co-Founder and Director, Finovation Limited, and Wahid R Chowdhuri, Investment Analyst, IDLC Venture Capital Fund 1, served as keynote Judges for proper evaluation of the contestants in the final round.
On the finale, honourable guest Masba Ahmed, the founder & CEO of Masba Elite Business Club, stated, "Training is the best way to develop students' interest in Entrepreneurship.'
To highlight the importance of Entrepreneurship and emerging possibilities for entrepreneurship, chief guest Sami Ahmed said, "With innovative startup ideas, this generation can create the next level of employment in Bangladesh."
The intention of giving the students the corporate world experience through investors was the aim of Pitchers.
EWUIFC is looking forward to carrying on the legacy to organise skill and aptitude enhancement programs like this for the students to think out of the box and thrive in their careers.
