Primary and secondary education departments in Rajshahi have completed necessary preparations for distribution of new textbooks on the opening day of the forthcoming new year.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Alamgir Kabir said that there are 6,45,642 primary and secondary level students in the district. They will get a total of 49,99,743 new books which have been sent to the institutions, he adds.
There are 3,05,636 primary students enrolled at around 2,395 schools, according to District Primary Education Officer Saiful Islam. They will be given 14,11,558 textbooks on various subjects. Necessary preparations were completed to distribute the books, reports BSS quoting Saiful.
There are also 3,44,006 secondary level students in the region who will receive the books, said Education Officer Lutfor Rahman.
Reports add that more than 70 per cent books have already been sent to the schools.
