The certificate giving ceremony of "Skill Hunt Presents Professional Graphic Design Training, season-01" organised by Skill Hunt was held at Sirajul Islam Lecture Hall, University of Dhaka on October 20, 2017.
Skill Hunt is the first ever student's skill development voluntary training hub of Bangladesh which began its journey at the University of Dhaka. This club aims at developing the skills of students by providing productive training in business-relevant areas to address the opportunities and challenges to meet demands of changing market economies and new technologies. Skill Hunt arranges training programmes in different areas including business strategy topics, general education, psychology and changing behaviour and technology that can boost up students' skills for a better life.
How did it start? At the very beginning of its journey, Altaf Hossain Raju along with Mashiur Rahman and Shahoria Ahmed started talking to leading corporate professionals of Bangladesh. The objective was to know the actual scenario of real-time corporate sector of this country. These three youths also approached job candidates only to know that fresh graduates lack required soft and technical skills which is the cause of educated unemployed people in Bangladesh. These raised a storm in their minds. They were thinking of creating a platform that could facilitate youths with diversified competency-based training (CBT) programmes to solve by converting unskilled population into a skilled human resource. For example- graphic designing skill seems very simple and niche but in reality, it is just a gateway to a lot of other areas such as- web designing, User Interface (UI) etc. Before web was introduced, graphic designing only meant print. It is constantly evolving now-a-days.
As a result, couple of months ago Skill Hunt developed a training programme on graphic design. It was held at A R Mollik Auditorium, University of Dhaka. The whole programme was conducted by Md Imran Hossain, a professional graphic designer and video editor of Channel i. A total of 190 students participated in this programme. The students were provided with some essential instructions on Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator software which would help them to become successful graphic designers.
This training programme was 28 hours long and continued for two months. It was finished with an assessment test among the participants. The certificate giving ceremony of the first batch was held at Sirajul Islam Lecture Auditorium, University of Dhaka. The participants who passed the assessment test of "Graphic design training season one" were given certificates. The certificates were presented to 71 participants out of the total 190. The guests of the event were Country Business Manager of Nestle Bangladesh Masum Khan, CEO of Igloo Ice Cream G M Kamrul Hassan, Professor of Department of Management at University of Dhaka Md Mosharraf Hossain, and Vice President of Bangladesh Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Dr Rubina Husain.
In his speech GM Kamrul Hassan said, "Career readiness and employability have become an increasingly critical part of education." Masum Khan stated, "Youths are the driving force in an economy and we really need the unique power of young people to achieve our national and global goals." Rubina Khan opined, "The youth of Bangladesh need to have a positive attitude, the tendency of hard-working, perseverance, keen enthusiasm and many other good features to succeed."
Adnan Al Sakib, one of the participants, said, "It's a really happy and proud moment for me as this will add real value to my CV. Special thanks to Skill Hunt for taking such innovative initiatives."
Skill Hunt has already launched graphic design training, season-02 and Advance Excel training season-01 at University of Dhaka. It has also taken some initiatives of arranging career-oriented seminars, workshops, training sessions on such areas as brand management, digital marketing, affiliated marketing, CV writing, leadership etc. It is now recruiting campus ambassador to facilitate more students with the vital training programmes.
Graphic design is in high demand now and it is a growing field. It will provide youths the opportunity to work with reputable companies and brands. There is a good chance that one will acquire some skills and experiences that were not covered in academic curriculum.
