Speakers at a function in Rangpur have urged Islamic scholars for preaching the real spirit of Islam, a religion of peace, to stop evil forces in the country.
Rangpur divisional office of Islamic Foundation Bangladesh (IFB) arranged the event at its auditorium for distributing prizes among the winners of divisional level 'National Islamic Cultural Competitions for Children and Adolescent -2017' on Tuesday.
Zila Parishad chairman Chhafia Khanom attended the function as the chief guest and distributed certificates and prizes among the winners.
Chaired by IFB divisional director Abul Kalam Azad, the function was addressed, among others, by Rangpur Sadar Upazila chairman Nasima Zaman Boby, former head of the Bengali Department at Begum Rokeya Govt College Prof Md Shah Alam and IFB deputy director Alamgir Sikder.
The speakers stressed building morals of children and young generation by educating them with proper religious and social values aiming to make them worthy citizens, reports BSS.
Chhafia Khanom asked the IFB authorities to arrange similar competitions frequently for children and adolescents to enrich their moral knowledge.
She called upon the IFB officials, Olama-Mashaekhs and religious leaders for preaching the real teachings of Islam and keeping alert so that vested quarters cannot use mosques for their heinous interest to defame the true spirit of Islam.
