NSU sets up pathology lab for students

North South University (NSU) has set up a pathology lab at its medical center to provide its students, teachers, officials, and staff members with a wide range of medical services.

The NSU organised a virtual programme to inaugurate the lab, the first of its kind by a private university in Bangladesh, on Monday, according to a press release received on Tuesday.

The pathology lab has the facility to perform various tests including general blood test, lipid profile, kidney test, liver test, diabetes test, electrolyte test etc, said the release.

Former President of FBCCI & Founder Chairman of Southeast Bank Ltd M. A. Kashem, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), NSU, was present as the chief guest at the virtual ceremony.

"Health is the greatest asset of human beings, NSU is the pioneer of higher education at the private sector, in the same way, it is committed to the health of students, teachers, officials, and employees.

It was our dream from long time to set up a medical research institute at NSU. In its continuation, we have built a pathology lab at the North South University Medical Center,” said the BoT chairman.

Health Specialist Major General A S M Matiur Rahman (retd.) was present as the special guest.

Professor Dr. Hasan Mahmud Reza, Dean (Acting), Schools of Health & Life Sciences, NSU delivered the welcome speech.

The session was chaired by Professor Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor, NSU and moderated by Mr. Jamil Ahmed, TV Presenter & Director - Public Relations Office, NSU.

Prof. Hasan Mahmud Reza said, “The NSU Pathology Lab has been set up to provide accurate and reliable results. I think this pathology lab will play a role in various research activities.”

Professor Atiqul Islam said, “It is a matter of pride that NSU has inaugurated the first pathology lab among the private universities in Bangladesh. I think this pathology lab will play a vital role in research work and to protect the health of students, teachers, officials, and staff members.”

Among others, Dr. M. Ismail Hossain, Pro Vice-Chancellor, NSU, Prof. Dr. Javed Bari, dean, School of Engineering & Physical Sciences, directors, chair of the departments, faculties, officials, and students were also present in the programme.
