NSU launches book ‘Gender Mainstreaming in Politics, Administration and Development in South Asia’

The South Asian Institution of Policy and Governance (SIPG) of North South University (NSU) unveiled a book, ‘Gender Mainstreaming in Politics, Administration and Development in South Asia’, in a virtual launching programme on Saturday. 

The webinar began with the welcome note by Professor Sk Tawfique M Haque, director of SIPG, said a statement. 

Professor Atiqul Islam, Vice Chancellor of North South University was present as the chief guest in the programme. 

Professor Ishtiaq Jamil of University of Bergen of Norway gave a speech on behalf of the editorial panel, followed by reflections from the authors. 

Professor Krishna Menon of Dr B R Ambedkar University of Delhi, and Dr Nazneen Ahmed, Senior Research Fellow of Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) discussed on the book. 

The book approaches gender mainstreaming from the policy-and-governance perspective and explores government initiatives to promote gender mainstreaming, challenges and the results of these initiatives.

Most of the chapters in the book were first presented as papers at the Conference on Gender Mainstreaming in Politics, Administration and Development in South Asia in 2017, held at the North South University. The book includes chapters on Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
