Some new colleges and institutes are being affiliated under Rajshahi University (RU) though those failed to meet imperative terms and conditions including fundamental infrastructure and adequate manpower.
Sometimes, some colleges those were started with rental houses not long after start has stopped their operation. In this situation, the university authorities are going to allow two more colleges affiliate soon, sources said.
According to the university sources, the number of affiliated colleges is 14 in RU.
Out of which there are 11 engineering and 3 agricultural colleges.
Most of these colleges could not fulfill 10 conditions out of 13 which are mandatory to get affiliation.
Besides, many of these applied with false information during the affiliation. But the varsity authorities aren't inquiring about these.
Although, college affiliation is making the way of extra income for the university, but colleges cannot play any role in the expansion of education.
According to the rules-regulation first condition is to have an own college campus for the affiliation. But the Advanced Engineering College in Rajshahi which has been operating activities with a rented building where the number of students is only five.
It is known in the search that not only Advanced College, same situation have been prevailing other colleges in the Rajshahi city.
These colleges are in the rental buildings with one or two floors for their operations. Even, the colleges are not getting students, and running academic operations with part-time teachers mostly.
In the meantime, Epsilon Engineering College and Global Engineering College named two institutes shuttled their operations not getting students long time.
Despite of such scenario for previous affiliated institutions, RU authorities is going to affiliate two new colleges. These are Anowara College of Bio-Science, an agriculture college in Dinajpur and another one KSFL Engineering college. They have submitted their written application for affiliation to the RU College Inspector's Office.
According to the sources, the affiliate will be recommended in the meeting of the next Academic Council (AC).
In spite of not meet the criteria, the decision to affiliate colleges, resulting failure over the expansion of higher education, experts say.
Prof. Manzur Hossein, Director, Institute of Biological Sciences (IBSc) said that when a law is broken, the whole environment or system is lost. As a result, educational institutions with environment become
ruined. So it should be affiliate the colleges after fulfill the requirements and also inquire about the institutions.
Asked about affiliation of colleges despite of not fulfill the requirements, RU College Inspector Prof. M Mujibur Rahman told, it is one kind of cheated with university authorities by the colleges. Because of colleges shown a building firstly, but the building moved few days later after getting the affiliation. The colleges have created several problems like this.
"But we have tried those who do not fulfill the conditions to cancel their affiliation and those who have violated the conditions are being warned".
