Bangladesh Medical Students' Society (BMSS)-affiliated Standing Committee on Public Health (SCOPH) in collaboration with National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh (NLFB) observed the World Hepatitis Day through an awareness and diagnostic skill learning online and offline campaign- 'Mission Hepatitis Free Future'. The event consisted of an online digital poster-presentation competition and article-writing competition on the topic 'Know hepatitis more, prevent hepatitis better'.
In continuation of the event, 25 medical students were provided with a hepatitis-screening test workshop on August 27 on the NLFB office premises where they learnt how to do a hepatitis-screening test. Experts from NLFB demonstrated the process which was followed by students individually testing positive and negative blood samples with a view to helping underprivileged people by mass- screening test in future.
In this workshop, the founder of National Liver Foundation, Dr Mohammad Ali, was present along with BMSS president, project coordinator of NLFB and officials of BMSS. Each participant in the workshop got a certificate of participation issued by NLFB and World Hepatitis Alliance.
Earlier, alongside the competition, there were two webinars arranged in July. Both the webinars, titled ‘Youth Can't Wait’ and ‘Mission Hepatitis Free Future’, are available on Facebook videos for the audience.
