Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said many educated people in the country remain jobless due to the lack of proper skill.

Keeping this view in mind, he said the government has taken various projects and initiatives to make people skilled and qualified for the competitive job market.

Expressing his concern over employment rate among the educated people, the minister said his government has set a target of creating 15 million employments in the next five years.

His views came at an inaugural ceremony of a job fair titled ‘NRB Jobs Presents National Career 2019’ under the theme of ‘Campus to Corporate’ held in the city on Thursday.

BRAC University organised the two-day fair at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the capital.

The fair was aimed at providing a platform to all graduating and already graduated students from both public and private universities and colleges to connect the country’s leading employers from different sectors and match their career of interest.

BRAC University Vice Chancellor Professor Vincent Chang and Bangladesh Economic Association (BEA) Dr Jamaluddin Ahmed, among others, were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, the foreign minister also said 40 per cent people are now unemployed in Bangladesh.

The minister also underscored the need for creating jobs as it is still great challenge for the country.

Some 103 stalls from 70 private and public organisations took part at the fair.
