Professor Ioannidis and his colleagues at Stanford University in the United States developed a database of the world's top scientists, which is published recently by Elsevier Science. Dr Golam Rasul, professor and chair of the Department of Economics at the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), appeared as one of the top 2.0 per cent most cited scientists in the world Top Scientists list.
He appeared on the top scientists list for the year 2022 as well as in the career-long top scientists list. In the 2022 list of the world's top scientists, his name was listed among the top 18,000 out of 1, 95,000 researchers from various countries.
Dr Rasul joined IUBAT in 2022. Prior to his new assignment, he was the chief economist at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), a premier research organisation in Asia. At ICIMOD, he was involved in research in the areas of economics, rural development, regional cooperation, poverty alleviation, sustainable development, and food, water and energy management, according to a statement.
