The School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has organised a discussion titled ‘Photography and Iconic Personality: Rabindranath Tagore’ on its Bashundhara campus, recently.
Malavika Karlekar, professor at the Centre for Women’s Development Studies, New Delhi, and Co-Editor of the Indian Journal of Gender Studies, delivered speeches at the session on Monday.
Prof Karlekar hailing from a distinguished Bengali family of Kolkata, closely associated with the Bengal Renaissance of the 19th and early 20th century.
Prof M Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of IUB, and Dr MahbubAlam, Dean, School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (SLASS), were also present at the programme.
Obydullah Al Marjuk, Sr Lecturer of SLASS, introduced the speaker to the audience, according to a press release.
Throughout the presentation, Dr Karlekar, from the childhood, brought forward the entire charismatic life of Rabindranath Tagore while the audience witnessed the poet’s accomplishments live on the screen.
Following the presentation, the floor was open for question-answer session.
Academics, trustees of the university, senior members of the faculty, and administration and students, also joined at the programme.
