Are you tired of speaking in front of a screen and feeling like going back to the old days of socialising during tournaments? Been a while since you stood in front of the podium and divulged into arguments? Not anymore, because Independent Marketers' Association (IMA) presents the first ever Intra Business Debate Competition of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), the 'Clash of BizWords.'
IMA runs with student-oriented philosophy and marketing as a strategic concentration. IMA incorporates harmonising activities that will shape the campus culture and create learning with creativity, fun and festivity for the marketing students. For dreamers, this is the platform to showcase talent and creativity and achieve the optimum goal. Not only that, IMA is one of IUB's most prestigious and dynamic clubs. IMA aspires to bring the youths of IUB in line with the ever-growing marketing world.
After a long break from the pandemic, IMA decided to devise an interesting concept of organising an intra-debate competition where students can increase their analytical ability and sharpen their thinking capabilities, as debating is one platform where you can enhance both. Students from all over the university are eligible to participate in this debating fiesta. This competition will look into major business aspects of the ongoing world, and the students will indulge in vigorous debates to come up with the proper solutions to the problems.
In addition, the students will have the opportunity to socialise and build connections with students from different schools as this event will comprise the whole of IUB.
Over the years, it has been seen debaters debating on different aspects of society, but this time IMA will only be focusing on the business aspects. It will be a thrilling experience for all the undergraduate students of IUB who will be competing to reach the throne of this debating master class.
"I am a staunch believer in constructive discussions, and I believe that debating provides one platform for us to assert ourselves. It inspires us to speak up and elevates our self-esteem," shared club coordinator Abul Khair Jyote.
"I wish my students the best of luck and hope this competition will result in beneficial outcomes for their future," he added.
For the debate, one will have to follow the World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC), also known as the world schools format. In the World Schools model, each team has three to five members who prepare together and participate in each argument (though they can cycle who is speaking between debates). Only the three team members speaking in that discussion may contact one another after it has started. For this competition, one needs to form a team of three. The competition will comprise 32 teams. It begins on November 26, with its finale set to take place on December 01.
