International research conference on Bangabandhu starts at JU

An international conference titled 'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and His Legacy' is going on at Jahangirnagar University.

The two-day conference began today with a total of fifteen keynote papers and 102 research papers on Bangabandhu to be presented. Leading researchers from Bangladesh, India, Canada, Germany and Sweden are taking part in it.

Planning Minister Abdul Mannan MP is addressing his speech as the chief guest.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Farzana Islam inaugurated the International Conference at the Zahir Raihan Auditorium of the University. Planning Minister Abdul Mannan MP will be present as the chief guest.

The event was announced by the convener of the conference, Professor Mezbah Kamal, Department of History, Dhaka University, at a press conference held on Friday (December 10) at 3 pm in the Teachers' Lounge of the New Arts Building of the University. 

“Many commemorative ceremonies were held about Bangabandhu. But research programs are not done. We are doing the research program so that the young generation is interested in researching Bangabandhu," said Prof. Kamal.

Professor ATM Atiqur Rahman of Department of History, Jahangirnagar University, Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University Prof. Nasim Banu, Director of the Bangabandhu Institute of Comparative Literature and Culture, Prof. Shamim Reza, were present. 

Former Vice-Chancellor of Rabindra Bharati University of India Prof. Dr. Pabitra Sarkar , Prof. Pradeep Kumar Das, Chairman, Department of History, Asansol Kazi Nazrul University, Shubh Basu, a researcher at McGill University in Canada, Isha Dubey, a researcher at Lund University in Sweden will be present at different stages of the conference.
