The 24th International Conference on Computer and Information Technology (ICCIT) 2021 was kicked off for the third time this year at North South University (NSU).
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)), has organised the virtual event on 18-20 December, according to a press release.
The press release said that a lot of international participants are likely to present their research works and enhance the overall scientific growth of our country.
ICCIT provides a forum for researchers and professionals from both academia and industry to exchange up-to-date knowledge and experience in the field of computer and electrical engineering.
This year, the organisers invited papers from all areas of computer and electrical engineering, including artificial intelligence (AI), bio-informatics, Blockchain, internet of things (IoT), human-computer interaction (HCI), digital systems, robotics, wireless and mobile communication, etc.
As many as 770 researchers from 14 countries submitted a total of 271 papers. All papers were reviewed by up to four reviewers involving 93 experienced professionals from 16 countries. Out of the total papers, 84 papers on relevant areas were finally accepted for the conference.
The conference was inaugurated on Saturday morning through a virtual programme. Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Mustafa Jabbar was present at the opening programme as chief guest.
Dr. Mohammad A. Karim, Fellow - IEEE, University of Massachusetts of USA; and Dr. Mohammad S. Alam, Fellow - IEEE, Texas A&M University of USA were the general chairs of the conference.
The chief patron was Azim Uddin Ahmed, Chairman of NSU’s Board of Trustees. The organising committee included the faculty members of the NSU’s ECE department.
The event was chaired by Dr Rezaul Bari, Chairman of ECE, and co-chaired by Dr Rashedur Rahman, Professor at ECE. The technical committee is mostly comprised of international scholars chaired by Dr Mohammad S. Alam.
The opening day continued with a plenary session with four keynote speeches, followed by a panel discussion on ‘Towards the Realisation of Digital Bangladesh - Prospects and Challenges’. Another panel discussion on ‘The Importance of Accreditation in Engineering Education’ was also held later.
The second day of the conference, Sunday will be started with the presentation of the accepted works in multiple sessions. Many workshops, invited sessions, and an IEEE Bangladesh Section workshop will also be held on that day.
The conference will be ended on Monday with a closing ceremony before some more workshops and presentation sessions. The full programme details can be found at iccit.org.bd/2021/.
