East Delta University (EDU), Chittagong organised an event titled 'Corporate Odyssey' recently at its permanent campus to address the common challenges faced by Bangladeshi graduates and job seekers. High officials of different corporate houses and universities in Dhaka, Chittagong and Malaysia attended the programme. They gathered to discuss the need-gap in the fresh graduates' skill set. The event had multiple interactive sessions where parents and students asked different questions to the experts and guests. As the invited guests were from different industries and had relevant experiences, they meticulously answered to the queries of the students and parents during the event. The participants voiced their thoughts during the sessions in presence of the industry experts and received their feedback and insights. They also said that EDU students are giving their best efforts at professional fields and going forward with confidence to achieve great feat.

 

The founding Vice-Chairman Sayeed Al Noman said the university has been working to produce good quality students and research coming out of the stereotyped education system. Furthermore, in his speech, he said long-term plans have been chalked out to establish standard education system, international teaching method, create creative mentality and increase the research activities for expansion of higher education in Chittagong. The students are not being taught only for employment in the university. There is also huge scope of becoming entrepreneurs, he added.

 

International Islamic University, Malaysia Prof Dr Abdul Quddus said that his university has started joint education activities with the EDU as it ensured qualitative education.

 

EDU Director Planning and Development Shafayet Chowdhury conducted the programme while Heidelberg Cement Head of Human Resource, Md Alamgir, Grameen Phone Cluster Head Shaon Azad, Infinity Group Chairman Imtiaz Alam and EDU Treasurer Prof Shams-Ud-Doha were present at the programme, among others, says a press release.
