China's telecommunication giant Huawei will select 10 excellent students from five renowned Bangladeshi universities to give a study trip to its headquarters.
The company launched its global flagship CSR or corporate social responsibility programme "Seeds for the future" in Bangladesh in a bid to select the 10 youngsters.
The programme has recently kicked off with a press conference at its Customer Solution Innovation and Integration Experience Centre (CSIC) in capital’s Gulshan Avenue.
Starting in 2008, ‘Seeds for the Future’ has been implemented in 96 countries and international organisation worldwide, benefiting over 30,000 students from 280 universities.
Among them, more than 2,700 university students have taken a study trip to the Huawei headquarters.
Jerry Wang, chief technical officer of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited, said this programme allows 10 students (seeds) to develop their ICT skills, gain practical international work experience, and receive an introduction to Chinese language and culture that will prepare them for an increasingly interconnected global job market.
Mr Wang said, "I believe that, these students will grow and contribute to the making of Digital Bangladesh."
"We are extremely delighted to bring Seeds for the Future for the emerging ICT talents of the country," he said.
In order to help cultivate more ICT Talents in Bangladesh and provide an opportunity for the students to learn ICT Technologies and experience the Chinese culture, the company will select top 10 excellent students from 5 noted universities.
The universities are-- Dhaka University (DU), Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) and Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), the company said.
The telecommunication giant said Huawei's expert team with university judges' panel will go to these five universities step by step and select two best students from each university, reports Xinhua.
They will be sent to China on 2nd week of September 2018 for two weeks to get an intensive experience of Chinese culture and technology, it added.
