JCI Dhaka Cosmopolitan hosted its General Assembly on 14th December 2022. The General Assembly was organised at Rivendell by Gotcha.
During the General Assembly, JCI Dhaka Cosmopolitan declared Samiha Akhter as their Elected Local President for the upcoming year 2023.
The current Local President, Rezwan Ul Haque was present and completed the Chain Handover Ceremony.
Furthermore, Saif Alam was elected as the Executive Vice President (EVP), Iftekhar Bin Salam, Rashedul Sarkar and Shamimul Ehsan were elected as the Vice Presidents (VP) for the year 2023.
Junior Chamber International (JCI) is the world's leading global network of young active citizens and is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, in the US. Currently, there are over 5000 members actively participating in JCI Bangladesh for the development and betterment of society.
JCI Dhaka Cosmopolitan is one of the most renowned chapters of JCI Bangladesh. It was established in 2012 and has completed its tenth anniversary this year. JCI Dhaka Cosmopolitan has completed numerous projects throughout the past ten years focusing on women empowerment, mental health, civil rights, advocacy, etc. It is a dynamic network of young professionals and entrepreneurs.
During the year 2022, JCI Dhaka Cosmopolitan completed many projects. Multiple interventions of Project Shukher Thikana were executed throughout the year; mosquito nets and blankets were distributed at old age homes.
Alongside that, necessary medicine and medical supplies were also distributed to help the residents of these underprivileged old, aged homes.
Green Cart was another notable project from the year 2022. For this project, automated carts were provided to farmers in Rangpur to facilitate their farming. The automated carts would support farmers in carrying heavy machinery, feeds, etc., to help enhance their yearly produce.
Project Green Cart was also performed in the year 2021, where carts were provided to farmers to help set them up as vegetable vendors and start their own businesses.
Samiha Akhter, Local President for the year 2023, said, "JCI has benefitted me immensely in my personal and professional growth. The skills I have developed from being in leadership positions in JCI are unparallel to any other opportunities I have received from other forums. JCI is a community of active young citizens, and this network truly adds value!"
Rashedul Alam Sarker, Vice President for the year 2023, said, "JCI helped me network with people from diverse backgrounds. This networking opportunity has been greatly beneficial for my professional growth. Also, participating in various professional training has enhanced my skillset. The opportunity to engage in impactful projects and contribute towards society's betterment has helped me give back to society."
For 2023, JCI Dhaka Cosmopolitan will focus on providing development opportunities for its members by organising training and skill development workshops. It also plans to execute sustainable development projects focused on aiding farmers in the agricultural sector.
JCI Dhaka Cosmopolitan's primary focus will be to provide development opportunities to its members and help them enhance their knowledge and skill set.
