BUP Cultural Forum, one of the most prominent clubs of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), has celebrated Chaitra Sankranti and the Bangla New Year 1428 online. It has organised various competitions such as singing, dancing, recitation, digital and traditional art, handicrafts, and photography. Students participated from their home by submitting their videos on the event page.
Moderator of BUPCF, Associate Professor and Chairman of sociology department, Josinta Zinia shared, "Bangla New Year symbolises the showering of ecstasy and ebullience, erasing all acrid experiences and forgotten melodies of the past. Let the Bangla folk culture's beliefs and rituals embed into the hearts and souls. May the Bangla New Year bring a ray of hope and aspiration to the pandemic-wearied planet."
Mahbubur Rashid Ories, president of BUPCF, hopes to forget all the unpleasant experiences and start anew with the aroma of multifarious Bangla 'pithas'.
"We aspire that the emanating sun of the first Bangla month 'Baishakh' bid goodbye to the weariness and drowsiness of the previous year by showering its blazing light to the broken souls. Let all the mists of the eyes get dispersed far away into dissolution."
'Cakes to Taste,' 'Subscription Hub,' 'Foreign Touch' and 'Digital Window' were start-up partners of the event. These are small businesses by some dreamers who want to spread their ideas and work around the country. Similar to its previous event, BUPCF wants to continue promoting small businesses as they carry the hopes and dreams of some passionate people.
"With bidding farewell to 'Chaitra Sankranti' at the end of spring, we get to welcome 'Pahela Baishakh.' Spring's colourful meaning to life gets replaced by Baishakh's aggressive breeze to bring new motion and meaning to our lives. May this new year breeze bring forth a positive and unique motion in our life cycle despite the pandemic," remarked Shahedul Alam Santo, general secretary of BUPCF.
Ziaur Rahman Zia, founder and leader of the prominent Bangladeshi band 'Shironamhin' was present at the event who expressed his craving for the open Baishakh programmes that are missing this year.
The whole Chaitra Sankranti event is available for the audience on BUPCF's Facebook page.
