An inter-university finance-based competition titled FINWITZ is set to begin from November 13.

The IBA Communication Club (IBACC), a platform consisting of Dhaka University's Institute of Business Administration (IBA) students, is organising the event.

IBACC has teamed up with LR Global Bangladesh, a New York-based investment management firm, for the event, said a press release on Tuesday.

The preliminary round will be held with more than 100 teams on the opening day while the final round is expected to be held on December 15.

The winning team will be awarded prize money amounting to Tk 150,000 with the first runner-up receiving Tk 75,000 and the second runner-up getting Tk 50,000.

Teams will be given assignments to assess their valuation skills, equity research, financial statement analysis, portfolio management etc.

The Financial Express has been chosen as the Print Media Partner of the event.

Registration for FINWITZ begins on October 25.

IBA Director Dr AKM Saiful Majid and Senior Vice-President of LR Global Bangladesh Rashed Hasan were present, among others, at the launching ceremony of the competition recently.

The IBA Director said the steadily-growing Bangladesh economy is in need of competent and skilled finance graduates.

IBACC has organised many successful competitions over the years, he added.

LR Global Bangladesh Senior Vice-President said, “The Bangladesh economy holds great promise and it’ll need young and qualified leaders in the financial sector to help guide the economy further in future.”
