‘Communication strategy significant to quality primary education’

Improved communication strategy can be the crucial means of attaining qualitative and quantitative primary education leading to enriching the country’s list of skilled human resources.

Field level education officials, teachers, guardians and other social actors should come forward and work together to ensure a child-friendly atmosphere in every school for making their teaching learning activities effective after the best uses of communication strategy.

The observation came at a daylong training workshop titled “Communication Strategy Implementation and Monitoring” in Rajshahi city on Friday.

District Primary Education Office organised the workshop in the conference hall of Primary Teachers Institute.

Deputy director of Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) Delwar Hossain addressed the programme as chief guest with District Primary Education Officer Nafisha Begum in the chair.

Assistant director of DPE Abul Kalam Azad and Assistant District Primary Education Officers Saiful Islam and Anwar Hossain conducted the training sessions as resource persons.

Delwar Hossain stressed the need for close relations between community people especially parents and schools for the sake of boosting enrolment and checking dropout.

He listed the government’s manifold development activities including development of school infrastructure, ensuring supply of safe drinking water, introduction of uniform education and stipends for disadvantaged children, reports BSS.

Review and assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of every school operating system is very important to significantly improve the quality of teaching and learning.

He also stressed the need for building a skilled and knowledgeable workforce for implementing the ‘Vision-2021’ as declared by the government aimed at turning Bangladesh into a tech-savvy country.

In doing so, the government has given special emphasis on education for all.

He said improvement of both quality and quantity of primary education could be the vital means of attaining Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) besides enriching the list of skilled human resources.

Taking part in group discussions, the participants comprising education officials, teachers and members of school managing committee put forward a set of recommendations to ensure quality education in primary schools.
