To celebrate the Global Entrepreneurs Week, Begum, a project of Preneur Lab, observed Women Entrepreneurs Day on November 11, 2017 at EMK Centre, Dhanmondi. Global Entrepreneurs Week is being celebrated in 150 countries around the world.
Almost 60 women entrepreneurs joined the event 'Begum for Entrepreneurs: Women Entrepreneurs Day'. Farhana Naznin, founder of Society for Young Women Entrepreneurs, Sifat Sarwar, CEO of Shopup and Namira Hossain, CEO of Cookup, joined the panel discussion of the first session. They had a brief discussion on how women can promote their business through digital tools. The session was moderated by Rakshanda Rukham, founder of the Begum App and leader of Google Women Techmakers. Journalist Tania Rahman and founder of Fashion House Grandeur Sanjida Sultana also delivered their speeches. 'Women of our country are doing great in ecommerce and other online services,' Rakshand said. 'But this number is very low. Today we got a huge response. Begum will bring many more initiatives for women.'
Sifat Sarwar added, ‘In most of the cases women are lagging behind due to lack of confidence. Now women have many opportunities to work. Let's move forward!’ Farhana Naznin said, ‘There are several ways of getting loan for women entrepreneurs from various financial institutions, including banks. They should know about these opportunities and use them well.’ In the last segment of the event, digital media expert Shoyeb Rajib conducted a session on ‘Digital Marketing’.
