Taheatul Jannat has won the ‘Forces of Nature Award 2021’ by Ripple Effect Images. She is the first Bangladeshi to receive this award.
Ripple Effects Images, a group of photojournalists from the National Geographic Channel in the United States, is focused on women's empowerment. The Force of Nature award is given to women working on a variety of issues, including food, water, and the health of the underserved people.
Taheatul was chosen from a group of women from 12 nations, including the United States, Kenya, and Uganda, and she is the first woman from Bangladesh to claim the prize.
Taheatul formed the ‘Nondita Surokkha’ group to help the marginalised population avoid sexual harassment and violence against women and children. She established the ‘Hashimukh Pathshala,’ a free school dedicated to educating children from the Sweeper community.
She also received the ‘Inspiring Women Volunteer Award 2021’ in an event jointly organised by UNV, VSO, Plan International, and ActionAid.
