The 8th Dhaka Literary Festival (DLF) will begin on the premises of Bangla Academy in Dhaka city on Thursday.
The Cultural Affairs Ministry and the DLF committee will jointly arrange the three-day literary festival, which will continue till November 10.
“Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will formally inaugurate the festival,” Sadaf Saz, director of the DLF committee told media today.
This year’s event will feature Pulitzer Prize winner novelist Adam Johnson, Indian Bengali author Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, Pakistani writer Mohammed Hanif, bollywood actresses Manisha Koirala and Nandita Das, Oscar winning British actress Tilda Swinton and Ondaatje prize winning writer Philip Hensher, he informed.
Eminent personalities from Bangladesh, including educationist Syed Manzoorul Islam, writer Imdadul Haq Milon, novelist Selina Hossain and lyricist Kaiser Haq, will also take part in the festival.
About 40 internationally reputed writers, discussants and researchers from 15 countries and about 200 from Bangladesh will join the DLF, organisers said.
Besides, there will be discussions on film literature, culture, politics, women, Rohingya issues and three books of Bangla literature will be published at the festival, reports BSS.
There will be 90 sessions at the festival, which will remain open for all from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm every day.
The visitors are requested not to bring any type of bags at the festival.
