Pearson’s largest qualification brand ‘Edexcel’, in collaboration with the British Council, conducted its ninth Academic Award Ceremony on Saturday for students in Bangladesh who achieved outstanding results in their International GCSE and A Level examinations in 2021 and 2022.
The award-giving ceremony was held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka, according to a press release.
This year, 779 Bangladeshi students received awards for achieving outstanding results. 13 awardees achieved world's highest marks in different subjects.
There were 658 International GCSE and 108 International A Level awardees. These students have achieved a minimum seven number of ‘7’ Grade Point (9-1) or more in their International GCSE subjects and four ‘A’ grades or more in A Levels.
There were some students who have achieved even 11 number of ‘7’ Grade Point (9-1) in Int. GCSE and 6 ‘A’ grades in A Levels.
Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Speaker of Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad, attended the award-giving ceremony as the chief guest.
British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson, British Council’s Regional Exams Director Harriet Gardner, Vice President of Pearson School Qualifications Emma Whale, Pearson’s Director (Employability & Qualifications) Premila Paulraj, British Council’s Country Exams Director Jim O'Neill, Pearson’s Regional Development Manager (Bangladesh & Nepal) Abdullah Al Mamun Liton and British Council’s Director Operations Examinations Zunayed Ahmed were present, among others, at the ceremony.
The press release says Bangladesh is one of the key countries where a large number of students pursue Pearson qualifications. Many of these students end up going abroad for higher studies in renowned international and local universities.
“The British Council and Pearson jointly hope that the students, parents and schools will feel encouraged to achieve greater success in the future by such regular annual events,” it added.
