A total of forty under-graduate students from different academic years of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded Sumitomo Corporation Scholarship, Japan.
The students were awarded the prestigious scholarship on Thursday at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman presided over the function while Treasurer of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin, General Manager of the Sumitomo Corporation Mr. Naoto Yamada and Representative from Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh Machiko Yamamura addressed the event, said a media statement.
Advisor of the Sumitomo Corporation Khondker Ali Ershad declared the names of awardees while Acting Director of Planning and Development Office of DU Jiban Kumar Mishra moderated the programme.
The vice-chancellor congratulated the awardees for receiving the prestigious scholarship. He also thanked the Sumitomo Corporation authorities for providing scholarship to DU students.
Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman urged the brilliant students to prepare themselves as skilled human resources to make Bangladesh a prosperous country.
Awardees of different years are: first year (Hons.)- Mousumi Akter (Mathematics), Sujata Amin (Law), Suvajit Halder (Finance), Subrata Kumar Das (Marketing), Monirul Islam and Md. Ariful Islam (International Business), Ety Akter (Public Administration), Tonmoy Shaha Zoy (Mass Communication & Journalism), Raz Kumar Halder (Soil, Water & Environment) and Kazi Kamrun Nahar Ananya (Nuclear Engineering).
Second year (Hons.)- Md. Mohtasir Billah Siraz (Physics), Md. Emon Arefin (Banking & Insurance), Tanvir Ahmed (Management Information Systems), Kutub Uddin Khan (Economics), Farhana Feroz Meem (Soil, Water & Environment), Md. Rafiul Islam Ranga (Microbiology), Tasnuma Tabassum Antara (Pharmacy), Md. Alamgir Kabir (Pharmacy), You Mong Sing (Geology) and Labibuzaman Mustabin (Nuclear Engineering)
Third year (Hons.)- Fariha Tasnim (Physics), Mishu Rani Mazumder (Mathematics), Prantika Mutsuddi (Management Studies), Amit Barua (Accounting & Information Systems), Amal Chandra Mondal (Marketing), Md.
