A total of 2,84,605 applications have been submitted against 1888 seats for the admission test of the undergraduate batch of Jahangirnagar University (JU) this year.
So, in the 2021-22 session, 151 admission aspirants will fight for each seat.
The admission test this year will be held from 31st July to 11th August though the detailed schedule is not made yet.
On Monday (June 20), Md Abu Hasan, Secretary of the Central Admissions Management Committee and Deputy Registrar (Academic) of the university, confirmed the information.
This time admission test will be held in five units instead of ten units. Of these, 76,379 applications have been submitted against 466 seats of Unit ‘A' under The Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences and Institute of Information Technology.
48,347 applications for Unit ‘B’ of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Law have been submitted against 386 seats.
The ‘C’ unit of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the Department of Drama and Dramatics, the Department of Fine Arts and the Bangabandhu Institute of Comparative Literature and Culture consists of 466 seats, where 53,430 students applied for admission.
87,728 applications were submitted against 320 seats in the ‘D’ unit of the Faculty of Biological Sciences.
In the ‘E’ unit of the Faculty of Business Studies and Institute of Business Administration (IBA) 18,721 applications have been submitted against 250 seats.
Abu Hasan said, "Unit-based exam date has not been fixed yet. The meeting of the admission management committee will be held as soon as the report on how many students can be taken in each shift is received. Then the date will be fixed and it will be announced through the university website (https://juniv-admission.org) and daily newspaper.”
