BD for greater connectivity with India

Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali said Thursday that Bangladesh and India should co-operate in connectivity for the mutual benefit.

"Connectivity offers a game-changing opportunity for India and Bangladesh," said the High Commissioner said.

The envoy said it while speaking as a guest of honour at a seminar titled "Political Economy of Bangladesh" at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.

The seminar was organised by the Centre for South Asian Studies (CSSA) at JNU, said the High Commission.

Ali also said the two the two neighbouring nations need to combine their synergies in the area of trade, commerce and energy, as per a report on UNB.

He said Bangladesh's jump to the status of a developing nation from the LDC category will create new opportunities in Indo-Bangla economic cooperation.

"Cooperation in the energy sector is the hallmark of our renewed engagements," he said.

JNU Vice Chancellor Prof Jagadesh Kumar presided over the seminar while CSAS Chairman Prof Sanjay Bhardwaj conducted it.

Md Abul Kalam Azad, Principal Coordinator (SDG Affairs) at Prime Minister's Office, Bangladesh, Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman, Chairman of Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), Prof Chintamoni Mahapatra, JNU Rector and Sheikh Fazle Fahim, Senior Vice President of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) attended it.
