South Africa will take “necessary tough decisions” to stabilise public debt and grow the economy.
Country's Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba made the announcement on Saturday.
“We will take the necessary tough decisions to continue fiscal consolidation and stabilisation as we move towards the 2018 budget in February,” Gigaba said.
The minister was addressing a breakfast briefing before the start of the ruling African National Congress conference to pick a new party leader.
Meanwhile, another Reuters report says, South Africa’s African National Congress decided that ANC officials barred by courts from attending its leadership conference this weekend would not take part in voting.
ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe said on Saturday that “We had a special committee meeting, which was urgent, to deal with the three court cases that were given yesterday.
"All the structures that were nullified will not be voting delegates at conference,” Mantashe said.
“We don’t want to contaminate the conference... They will not vote on any matter.”
