Myanmar authorities seized 1.35 tonnes of caffeine in eastern Shan state, the state media reported Tuesday citing a police source.

Acting on a tip-off, the anti-narcotics police confiscated the caffeine worth over 100 million kyats (about 47,619 US dollars) from a 12-wheeled vehicle near a checkpoint in Tachilek town of Shan state on Dec. 28, the state media reported.

According to investigations, the drugs were being transported to Kunhing town also in Shan state, reports Xinhua.

The police also arrested two suspects in the operation and further investigations were underway, it added.
