An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 has shaken the east of the Kuril Islands, in Russia's Sakhalin Oblast region, according to the US Geological Survey.
Xinhua news agency reported citing the USGS the quake struck the Islands at 0440 GMT on Wednesday.
The epicentre, with a depth of 29.4 km, was initially determined to be at 45.8251 degrees north latitude and 152.2895 degrees east longitude.
