The New York City Police Department has arrested a man after the explosion at Manhattan bus terminal on Monday.

Some global media outlets have claimed that the 27-year-old man was possibly born in Bangladesh and got inspiration from ISIS.

According to the New York Post, high-ranking police sources have identified him as Akayed Yallah, who lives in Brooklyn.

Former NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton also told a US media that the man was inspired by ISIS and possibly born in Bangladesh.

Bratton said the man was living in the US for seven years. “He was supposedly setting the device off in the name of ISIS,” he added.

“So, definitely a terrorist attack, definitely intended,” Bratton said.

New York Post says the detained man had wires attached to him and a five-inch metal pipe bomb and battery pack strapped to his mid-section as he walked through the Manhattan transit hub.

The man partially detonated the device, which he was carrying under the right side of his jacket, prematurely inside the passageway to the A, C, and E trains at 8th Avenue and W. 42ndStreet at around 7:40 am (local time), sources said.

Later, police quickly took the man into custody.

Earlier on Monday, NYPD reported a 'large explosion' at a bus terminal in Manhattan.

After the explosion a man, who suffered the most serious injuries, was taken to Bellevue Hospital.

Three others suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.

One person was taken to St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital, another to Mount Sinai and another person was treated at the scene, officials said.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said she has already informed President Donald Trump about the developments.
