Sri Lanka's two national television channels on Wednesday suspended their operations as throngs of protesters entered the state television offices.
Officials say engineers shut the channel down after protesters stormed the buildings, according to BBC live updates.
The largest national broadcaster, Rupavahini, suspended its operations on Wednesday at noon. After an hour, the second state television broadcast station suspended the telecast.
