Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who left for the Maldives on Wednesday morning from Sri Lanka, will leave for Singapore.
Sri Lanka-based news outlet Daily Mirror gave the information citing its sources in the Maldives.
Earlier, Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled to the Maldives amid protests against him in Sri Lanka.
Speaker of the Sri Lankan parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said Gotabaya Rajapaksa will send his resignation letter on Wednesday.
Rajapaksa also approved Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe as acting president of the country.
